maui. and lovin' it.

did i mention that i think sleep is over-rated? oh good. because i think it is.

about 30 minutes of sleep on monday night. pretty fun, actually. stayed up with my mom who, by the way, didn't get any sleep at all.

early morning flight out of pasco. plane took off @ 5a.m. at the airport at 4:15a.m. (my family travels on the edge...breaks all the rules...and guess what!?! everything still turns out okay!). flew to seattle. mom and lou took off to the hospital to visit one of lou's colleagues who was just diagnosed with AML (leukemia). sad story--makes me cherish my breath's and days and relationships even more. the girls and i hung out in the terminal. i was sent on two food trips. i watched korryn drool and snore on the airport floor....AND i read a pretty awesome book that most normal people would find totally nerdy. yes, it is a book about scrapbooking. phew. okay. admitted it.

on the LONG plane ride. apparently i slept almost the whole time. managed to read a little. write a couple thank you notes. journal a bit. but really just slept. i guess that 30 minutes the night before wasn't quite enough for complete rejuvenation. slept with my mouth wide open....WIDE open i guess, as korryn told me so eloquently. good thing she couldn't find my camera.

finally got to Maui. annual trip to Costco right after the airport. love that place. so cool. new swimsuit. 2 books i am looking forward to reading. thanks family :) headed to home (aka The Whaler). things hadn't changed a bit. same furniture. same view. same people, even. pretty cool that we have this amazing place. i can walk out the building and in 10 seconds be in the ocean. yeah. it is that cool.

pupu's (i.e. appetizers) with the 'gang' (which you will hear referred to a lot during this trip). was exhausted. talked with jon for awhile :) (you make me happy dude). then to bed. slept like a rock. probably with my mouth wide open again. oh well...at least there wasn't a camera nearby.

woke up yesterday. hung out. pretty cold here actually. the wind is pretty fierce. sunned myself shortly. then went inside, shivering. edited pictures. organized pictures. looked at pictures. (you think i like pictures?). read some of my cool book about Dr. Robert Dunlop--amazing guy with an incredible passion for mission work. hmm...the travel wheels have started turning. africa....south america...new zealand...all sounding pretty good to me. give me a bag. give me a sheet and massive doses of mosquito repellant. i'll be good to go. oh--and i guess i should finish med school first--i just might be able to help more :)

BBQ'd Opa (fish) for dinner last night. was SO good. hung out with the gang. talked with jon. (again...smile from me). hula pie for dessert (which, by the way, is Maui's own version of glorified mud pie). journaled. prayed. read. bed.

even colder today. brrr. froze my swimsuit off outside trying to soak up any available rays. covered myself with 2 towells, which entirely defeated the purpose of laying outside in the 'sun'. now in the internet cafe. having a rootbeer float. getting ready to head to a little town on the south of the Island. we'll see how this turns out. :)

[tried for about an hour to upload pictures. resorted to posting them on facebook. hopefully that works. gosh...new computer badly needs to be on its way.]
